If all goes according to plan, this may well be a coup secured by director Anees Bazmee. The makers had approached Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha to be a part of their upcoming film Welcome Back.
While Big B was offered the role of RDX (played by late actor Feroz Khan in Welcome), Rekha was apparently approached to portray a wealthy fashionista in the film. Insiders from Firoz Nadiadwala's production say that Rekha has verbally said yes to the project but is yet to sign the contract. Bazmee says after wrapping up the first schedule of the movie, he will meet Big B and Rekha in person to discuss their roles.
The director says, "I want to work with Amitabhji and Rekhaji. She has said yes to the role but I still have to meet her and discuss it. I haven't met them yet. Rekhaji is a fine actress and I always wanted to work with her.
But let's see how it goes once I meet her. We haven't signed either of them yet." The on-screen chemistry between Big B and Rekha has always stood out, including in films like Anjaane (1976),Muqaddar Ka Sikander (1978), Mr Natwarlal (1979), Suhaag (1979), Silsila (1981) and others.
